William Wordsworth was born on April 7, 1770, in Cockermouth, Cumberland, in the scenic Lake District of England. He was the second of five children in a prosperous family. His early education took place at Hawkshead Grammar School, where he developed a love for poetry and nature. In 1795, Wordsworth met Samuel Taylor Coleridge, with whom he formed a deep and influential friendship. In 1802, Wordsworth married Mary Hutchinson, and the couple had five children.
