Background of Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853, in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands. The son of a Protestant pastor, van Gogh initially pursued a career in the clergy and worked as a missionary in Belgium before turning to art at the age of 27. Despite his prolific output, van Gogh struggled with mental health issues, which led to his admission to a psychiatric hospital in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in 1889.
